MAVERICK"I've seen things. Done things. Can't say I'm proud. But I've made my bed, and now it's time to lie in it."BASICSAge: 6 years 8 months
Gender: Male
Species: Timber wolfAPPEARANCEYour fur is...dark browns and grays to blacks, with a pale gray underbelly, legs and muzzle.
Your eyes are...dark brown and unremarkable.
You're built for...strength, with a lean, well-toned body and muscular legs.
All in all, probably the most memorable part about Maverick's appearance is that it's very easy for him to come across as intimidating. He's a bit larger than your average canine - though not excessively so - and clearly built like a truck. Constant training has turned him into a killing machine. Pair that up with his dark exterior, multitude of scars, and a constantly cold gaze: you've got one nasty-looking brute.
He easily makes for the type of character you'd want acting as your bodyguard, whether simply for appearance or actually for protection. He always stands tall, clearly proud of his power, though readily shows respect for those of higher rank.
While his pelt is littered with countless marks of past battles, the most obvious are the v-nick in his left ear, a scar that cuts across his right cheek from the corner of his mouth (often makes it seem as if he is smirking, though this is likely not the case), and a long scar that curves from between his shoulders to his left elbow. Though he has a handful of scars, they're all superficial and don't hinder him.
Some may consider him to be handsome in a rough, rugged sort of way, but for the most part he's just scary.SOCIALPack: None
Rank: Loner
Maverick was especially close to his mother, Rosalia. He mourned her death, but picked himself up quickly.
His father wasn't around much during his pup-hood and eventually disappeared altogether. As such, Maverick doesn't really have emotional ties to him.
He cares very deeply for his sister, Maven. However, he hasn't seen her in quite some time and doesn't know if she's still alive or not.
Currently, Maverick does not have a crush or mate.
Maverick does not have any pups that he knows of. But there was that one night...oh, and those couple of days...and possibly...nah. No way he's got any unknown children.PERSONALITYOn first impression...he's not very friendly.
But get to know you more...he's as loyal as any wolf.
Deep down you're...just looking for redemption and acceptance.
Maverick tends to take everything seriously. He considers most of his relationships to be formal affairs and will act as such. He tends to keep others at a distance emotionally, having lost a number of friends before. It's simply easier for him when they die.
Getting to know him can be a bit of a chore. While he considers himself a bit of an open book and will answer any and all questions right off the bat, it's not easy to actually get through to his softer side. Unless, of course, you're a pup. He's always had a huge soft spot for the young ones, even if he's never had any of his own. He'll instantly break out of his normal character and acts like a pup himself. Don't let this fool you; he's still on guard and would give his life to protect them.
If you can manage to get through to him, you'll find a kind, soft-spoken wolf who truly cares. Deep down he just wants to be accepted for who he is, but is too afraid that he'll never be able to truly get past the things he's done, no matter how much he now regrets them. He'll tell you how the tough act is just to keep others at bay, but he's just really afraid he'll never be good enough.HISTORYMaverick was born to Rosalia, a sweet-natured girl who'd fallen for a hot-headed young male. His father wasn't around much, just dropping by once every few months, and then just stopped showing up altogether.
His pup-hood was relatively unremarkable, just your usual getting into trouble and following everyday curiosity. Partner-in-crime Maven was just as bad if not worse, and the two gave their mother more than enough trouble.
Shortly before he reached one year in age, Rosalia was found dead at the edge of a pack's border, lying in a pool of her own blood. There were no unfamiliar scents, so it was unknown if she had been killed by another or simply took a bad tumble. Maverick was devastated by her death and it wasn't until he was a year and a half old that he finally got around to living again. Maven had just about had it with trying to coax him out of his stupor, so it came as a huge relief to her.
It was about this point in time that he took to intense training. He was constantly pushing himself to work harder and get stronger, as if it would bring Rosalia back. He became a bit reckless, attacking others and earning his fair share of battle wounds. Finally Maven had had enough and the two went their separate ways.
He joined a small but strong pack and was quickly promoted to the second-in-command for his strength and bravery. But the entire pack as a whole was too head-strong for its own good. On a whim they tried to invade the territory of a much larger pack. The results were not good.
Maverick barely escaped with his life, and few others were as lucky. Still, they were not discouraged. Within the next year their numbers grew quickly, and with Maverick now alpha, they had become a force to be reckoned with.
Alas, this would not last long. A harsh winter wiped out their numbers to even less than a year before. Then the neighboring pack invaded them, wiping them out for good. Maverick, however, was taken in, spared because they were convinced he would be useful to them. He was a prisoner, forced to fight their battles.
Oddly enough, he grew fond of his new pack. They had taken pity on him, and now he was a part of them. But they were barbaric. They killed the weak and the old, and took advantage of claimed females. They were savages. Maverick became no better, brain-washed by those around him. He grew popular among them, so much so that the alpha began to feel intimidated by him. Eventually, mutiny and paranoia tore them apart. And so, Maverick was left on his own once more. Away from the savage pack, he was forced to come to terms with his actions, and kept himself in seclusion, away from others.
After many months, he allowed himself to leave seclusion, though he's yet to fully forgive himself for his past.THREADS[open] Coming to terms - Maverick has finally returned to the packlands, hoping to make a new life for himself and move on from his past.OTHERFuture plans...Maverick intends to join a pack, but he's going to be cautious about it. He wants a calm, family-oriented pack where he's unlikely to be forced back into old ways. Maybe he'd like to settle down some day, but not for a long time; he's got too much emotional baggage to get through first.
What I want for this character...I haven't really decided yet. Being new, I'd just like to get a feel for things. He's open for character development and his personality may change as things go. I'm hoping to just let things happen as they may and see where he goes from there.
