Bubbles-Female-3 years-Loner
How long had it been now since Bubbles had felt the thrill of a full belly? Too long to think about really.....all those months that she was held captive she was barely given enough meat to survive......and now that she was on her own....well.....she wasn't exactly able to bring down a deer by herself. At the thought of deer meat she felt her mouth water. The little ivory female had practically been living off of mice and other small rodents for the past few weeks. While they would sustain her they were never enough, not enough to sate the want for meat that burned in her belly, not enough to take away the gnawing hunger that constantly pulled at her senses. But alas that was why she was here....in hopes that she could catch something a little bigger than a rat.....a rabbit perhaps.
Each footstep made the snow crunch beneath the skinny wolves feet, her paws sinking about an inch before they came into contact with the frozen earth. So there was not really all that much snow....just enough to be a hindrance to anyone trying to sneak up on prey......But on the other hand it also made tracking remarkably easy. Her small body weaved between the trees as fluid as water and it didn't take long for her to come up on the footprints of a small rabbit. She inhaled deeply, almost tasting the rabbit from its mere scent.......What she wouldn't give to have it between her jaws. Quietly she moved on, keeping her head low and nose but inches above the snow she continued to track the rabbit.....until it could be seen happily nibbling on a small twig a few paces ahead. Its back was turned to her as it munched, its pristine white fur blending in perfectly with the surrounding snow. Much like Bubbles.....this was it's element.
But bubbles made a mistake, she lunged too soon. Leaving to big of a gap for her to cover. And the rabbit quickly burst to life, its small limbs pedaling and carrying it to a bolt hold but a few feet away. She stopped running at the entrance, her heart beating fast and her breath coming out in crystallized puffs. No no no..... She whined and feebly scratched at the entrance, knowing it was no use that the rabbit would just slip out the back entrance as soon as she started to dig. As if on Que her stomach growled. A loud sound that permeated the cold air around her.
Damn....
